California Offshore Wind: Post-Lease Activities Technical Briefing

Watch the video playback of the July 18, 2022 Offshore Wind Technical Briefing for California and other West Coast regulatory agency staff — organized by Offshore Wind California and American Clean Power–California — in anticipation of the California offshore wind lease auction scheduled for later this fall.  The Technical Briefing webinar was conducted to give agency staff an overview of activities that offshore wind lessees will undertake as part of the development of a technically sufficient Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Construction and Operation Plan (COP). Presentations focused on offshore and marine activities and addressed the following topics: 

  1. Geophysical and geotechnical survey process, data collection, compilation and analysis.

  2. Marine mammals/sea turtle existing data reviews, survey data collection, compilation and analysis.

  3. Benthic/finfish existing data reviews, survey data collection, compilation and analysis.

  4. Avian existing data reviews, survey data collection, compilation and analysis.

  5. How the data will be used for development of a COP.
